Membership Eligibility

Article VII

            Section 7.1 Membership in the Association shall be open to all Binis citizens      residing in the state of Texas, and any who by:

            Qualification – Qualifies by the provision of Section 7.2 of article VII, and         performs as an active member as provided in the following:

7.2              Active Membership shall constitute:

A FULL-FLEDGED and Approved Member who has been sworn-in by the president of the association.

A member who is subsequently approved by a two-third majority vote by members in good standing.

i.                     An ACTIVE and FULL-FLEDGED Member who has been in the association for at least six months or longer and is financially current with no more than three months in arrears with respect to the monthly dues.

ii.                   Paying one’s dues & fulfilling one’s financial obligations to the association

iii.                  Fulfilling ones duties assigned by the Association in a timely manner.

iv.                 Attending meetings of the association and giving moral and physical support to the smooth running of the association

v.                   Abiding by the rules & regulations of the association

Exception To The Above Eligibility Criteria Applies to:

·        Members who serve in the Military

·        Those who work each Sunday with proof of work schedule

·        Members who are ill

An Inactive Member Therefore Is One Who:

      Fails to attend Monthly Meetings without due notification to the Secretary General and without justifiable reason for three out of the twelve sessions of the association’s fiscal year, An exception is granted to members residing out the State of Texas who are required to attend ,no less than 4 sessions,  out the twelve session of the association’s fiscal year.

Is in arrears for (3) three months or more in paying monthly dues.

Section  7-2  Membership Status: There shall be five (5) types of membership states: (This section shall incorporate Section 7-1).

1.            Marriage or Birth: membership shall be open to Binis by birth or marriage who are admitted by the provision of Section 7-1 of Article VII.

2.                  Bini Ethnic Group or Background: membership shall be opened to Binis of the Binis ethnic group and others with Binis background and shall be for those who have identified with either the cultural, linguistic, social or traditional background. E.g. Adopted or foster child.

3.                  Binis or Binis Decent: membership shall be opened to persons of Bins or Binis decent; the term meaning:

a.       Persons whose parents are Binis by birth or descent, whether born in the country of Nigeria or abroad.

b.      Hereditary succession – by inheritance, marriage, heir, or direct bloodline of an ancestor or citizen of Nigeria.

4.                  Children under the age of 18, whose parents are members in a good standing with the association and was admitted into the association by the provision of Section 1. Article VII.
